The volcanic Socorro Islands provide divers with an exhilarating mixed bag of adventures.

The Revillagigedos, or more commonly called the Socorro Islands, are a group of four islands (Socorro, San Benedicto, Roca Partida and Clarion) located in the eastern Pacific Ocean, approximately 250 miles south of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, at the southern tip of the Baja peninsula. These rugged and remote volcanic islands are home to a vast array of wildlife, including many endemic plant and animal species.

With deep, rich waters surrounding them, the Socorro Islands are a magnet for ocean pelagics, including schooling hammerheads, dolphins, silky sharks, Galapagos sharks, jacks, marlin, oceanic white tips and whale sharks.  But perhaps the most famous of the creatures to be found here are the huge pacific manta rays that appear to enjoy close interaction with divers and their bubbles. The Socorro Islands are also well known for the seasonal appearance of humpback whales from December through to March.

It is this combination of remoteness and diverse wildlife that can make the Socorro islands such an exhilarating place to dive.
