SS532: MV Sea Spirit - The 21 Day Ultimate Expedition!
28 Mar 2017 to 17 Apr 2017

On this amazing 21 day trip you will cruise and dive the whole length of the Maldives ... from top to bottom!

On this amazing 21 day trip you will cruise and dive the whole length of the Maldives ... from top to bottom!  Divers can expect great diversity - both in the type of diving and the underwater life that they can expect to see.  The itinerary includes exhilarating channels, shallow reefs, wrecks, thilas and manta cleaning stations where divers sometimes just 'sit' and watch the action!  As well as mantas, we'll be seeking out everything from tiny reef fish to massive whalesharks!

Dave and Lisa, our Dive Guides on board MV Sea Spirit, have made thousands of dives in the Maldives and have drawn on their years of experience and knowledge in putting together this itinerary.  Below is the itinerary that is planned:-

PROPOSED ITINERARY:

Guests catch a domestic flight from Male to the Far North where they join MV Sea Spirit. The boat will then cruise south, meandering through many of the beautiful atolls and, of course, diving the best sites along the way!

THE FAR NORTH:

The Northern atolls of Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Daalhu Atoll and Shaviyani Atoll are the oldest atolls in the Maldivian archipelago.  This single chain of widely spaced islands brings a very different underwater topography with clear blue water, deeper lying small thilas packed with fish life, undercut ledges with excellent corals and beautiful white sand floors.  The sand floors attract shovel nose guitar fishes, the elusive bowmouth guitar fish and zebra sharks.  A few notable dives of Haa Alifu and Haa Daalhu are:

Thakan - a deep ridge festooned with soft coral providing excellent shark spotting opportunities.
Fssp - a shark cleaning station with huge schools of batfish, trevally and eagle rays.
Pink Canyon and Heaven & Hell - both have stunning soft corals for excellent wide angle photography.
Captain Pentalis – this wreck lies on a shallow reef and it is hard to imagine so much fish life on one wreck! Every day after 3pm pods of common dolphin are often seen passing by.
Magic Mushroom – a miraculous macro and night dive.
Island Hideaway – for its mantas!

One quest is the search for the giant tortoise said to live on a few small islands in Haa Daalhu!  We will then travel down through to Shaviyani Atoll and will look forward to the following dive sites amongst others:-

Moroshi Thila & Handi Thila - provide action packed dives with sharks, fish life and excellent corals.

An island visit to Moroshi where you can see the huge and legendary kani tree.

NORTHERN ATOLLS

We take a turn into Raa Atoll and Noonu Atolls.  The islands and reef systems are closer together here and they are double chained, changing the underwater topography. We expect to see mantas on the north west side of Raa.

Alifushi & Ifaaru – these dive sites have shallower reefs and soft corals with spectacular drift diving.
Seven Kings - this dive site provides a stunning labyrinth full with fish life and pristine hard and soft corals.

We will then cruise to Noonu Atoll.

Long Ridge & Queens Rock - classic shark cleaning stations.
Christmas Tree Thila - an amazingly beautiful site – a big favourite.

Then will we travel sound to Lhaviyani Atoll which gives us another change in reef systems.

Kuredu Express & Fushi Kandu – both sites are exhilarating channel dives!
Kuredu Caves – with the friendliest green turtles in the Maldives.
Anemone Thila – an incredible and beautiful dive site.

Baa Atoll will be next with its exciting deep blue water drop off.

CENTRAL ATOLLS

Ari Atoll will be next with its many superb thilas and reefs then on to Rasdhoo Atoll.  We will then cruise all the way down the west side diving the manta cleaning stations and taking in an unforgettable night dive with manta rays and a search for whalesharks.

Felidhoo Atoll brings all the best action packed channels and exciting shark night diving.
Miyaru Kandu -  one of the best channel dives.
Vattaru – a favourite manta dive.

SOUTHERN ATOLLS

Meemu Atoll has wonderful channels with sharks rays and soft corals.
Muli Kandu – this dive site often gives us sightings of bull sharks, marlin and bump head parrot fish.

We will then travel down to a Manta point in the south. A night snorkel encounter with whale sharks in Thaa Atoll:

Guraidhoo Corner – this sites gives us a chance to see schooling hammerheads.

Travelling on to Laamu Atoll where the hard corals reef are pristine and the giris are pretty, the channels full of action and a chance to encounter manta rays on the south tip.

THE FAR SOUTH

An over night passages take us into Huvadhoo Atoll where we will cruise down the east side:

Vilingili, Nilandhoo & Maarehah – these sites offer big pelagic action with a chance for tiger shark, silky and oceanic blacktips.

Here we will be looking for memorable nights snorkelling with whalesharks.  We will also make a visit to the frigate bird island where the habitat is different to anywhere else in the Maldives. The crossing of the Equator into Fomulac Atoll provides blue water diving with a chance for thresher, tiger sharks, silvertips, mola mola and oceanic mantas … plus an island visit. We finish this amazing trip in Gan Atoll (Addu) with arguably the best manta point in the Maldives, the most incredible hard corals.

Kuda Kandu & Fen Muli – these sites give us some exciting drift dives.
British Loyalty – this wreck is a great night dive.

At the end of the trip guests will catch a domestic flight back to Male.

Guadalupe Great White Sharks with Dave & Lisa - Sep 2016
14 Sep 2016 to 19 Sep 2016

An exclusive Scuba Tours Worldwide charter to dive with the Great White Sharks of Guadalupe, on board the fabulous Nautilus Explorer liveaboard.

An exclusive Scuba Tours Worldwide charter to dive with the Great White Sharks of Guadalupe, on board the fabulous Nautilus Explorer liveaboard. This is the best place in the world to observe great white sharks in clear ocean waters!

Here is what the Nautilus Explorer says about this superb destination:-

Guadalupe Island (Mexico) is the top destination for great white shark encounters. This small volcanic island located in the Pacific 240 kilometres (150 miles) off the west coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula outperforms both South Africa and Australia with shark-seeing consistency and watching conditions. Only Guadalupe Island can boast shark viewing in beautiful clear blue water with 125 – 150 foot visibility. We recently counted 108 great white sharks in the bay where we stage our submersible cage diving operations which guarantees unforgettable encounters.

Diving with great white sharks and going face-to-face with them at 30 feet is an unforgettable experience but also very different than most people imagine. We believe in natural interaction and instead of using oil and blood and chum at the surface, we use submersible cages with open top decks to descend down to where the sharks naturally congregate. Natural interaction results in more sharks, more interaction and unforgettable up close encounters. July and August features rowdy gangs of male sharks acting just like groups of teenage boys! Female great whites start showing up in September and October. Over 120 individual great whites have been identified in the bay that we dive in.

The liveaboard trip begins with a 6pm transfer from your San Diego hotel to Ensenada, in Mexico, a scenic 2 hours drive, to board the Nautilus Explorer. Once on board there will be welcome Margaritas served and a little later in the evening, the boat will set off for the 22 hours cruise to Guadalupe.  Once there, the cages are lowered into the water and virtually unlimited cage diving is offered from 6.30am onwards throughout the daytime for the three dive days.  Apparently, the record dive time anyone has set on board the Nautilus Explorer is 31 hours of cage time in 3 days! Water temperatures are expected to be between 20-22C and outside temperatures should be a comfortable 25-28C.

SAMPLE DIVE ITINERARY:

Day 1: Your trip boards in the evening of the first night. You will meet the group and a crew member at the Ramada Hotel in San Diego and be transferred to the boat by highway coach. After boarding, the ship will get on its way for Guadalupe.

Day 2: The boat will arrive to Guadalupe at about dinner time. Cages will go in to the water with the first dives available the following day at 7AM.

Day 3: Cages open at 7AM and remain open until dinner time.

Day 4: Cages open at 7AM and remain open until dinner time.

Day 5: Cages open at 7AM and remain open until dinner time when they will be taken out of the water and the boat will make its overnight run back to Ensenada.

Day 6: You arrive into port at about 1PM, have your bags loaded on the highway coach and depart for San Diego. Arrival into San Diego is about 6PM. If you plan to fly home that evening, we suggest no flights are booked before 8:30PM just in case there are any border delays

An exclusive Scuba Tours Worldwide charter to the rugged and remote volcanic islands of Socorro.

An exclusive Scuba Tours Worldwide charter to the rugged and remote volcanic islands of Socorro. Home to a vast array of wildlife, including many endemic plant and animal species, the Socorro Islands have been compared to the Galapagos Islands and Cocos for the big animal encounters that divers can expect here. This is an exciting time of year to dive the Socorro Islands, as January through to the end of April traditionally sees the waters at their coolest. This change in temperature brings humpback whales into the islands, migrating down from Alaska to mate.  May sees the water temperatures rise and this is the beginning of bait-ball season, where large schools of hammerheads and silky sharks can be seen, as well as lots of mantas!

South Africa Shark Special with Dave & Lisa - Jun/Jul 2017
25 Jun 2017 to 9 Jul 2017

Shark diving on the reefs of Aliwal Shoal, the incredible Sardine Run, great white shark Cage Diving in Cape Town and Kelp Forest Diving

Special Body:

Shark diving on the reefs of Aliwal Shoal, the incredible Sardine Run, great white shark Cage Diving in Cape Town and Kelp Forest Diving with sevengill sharks in Simon’s Town ... in other words, the very best of South Africa's diving!

This is a specially arranged trip for a maximum of 16 divers - including Dave and Lisa - so there are just 14 spots up for grabs!  We are hoping for great shark encounters on this trip, with several different species including copper sharks, oceanic black tip sharks, dusky sharks, ragged tooth sharks, great white sharks and even the rare sevengill cow sharks.

But it is not all about sharks - the sardine run alone attracts other top predators. Huge pods of dolphins – sometimes in their 1000s – gather to feed on the sardines, joined by sharks, seals and diving gannets all competing for a meal.  This is also the season for migrating humpback whales, regularly seen feeding and breaching. Catch all this just right and you could find yourself witnessing one of nature’s most spectacular events!
