Introduction to Thulhagiri Island Resort

This is a small resort with good accommodation, pristine beaches and is within easy reach of excellent diving. Located in the center of North Male Atoll, the resort is densely vegetated with coconut palms and has good access to its house reef which also offers great snorkelling and diving.

Accommodation

Thulhagiri is a beautiful but simple island with sandy pathways leading through a lush interior and fringed by stunning beaches and a turquoise lagoon. The island is famous for it’s abundance of budgies that are resident on the island and the house reef is easily accessed for snorkelling and diving. Accommodation on the island is in comfortable Superior Rooms or Water Villas.

Superior Rooms: The Superior Rooms are situated around the island along the beachfront. In either detached or semi-detached blocks, the Superior Rooms have thatched roofs and bamboo furniture, mini-fridge, satellite TV, and an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold desalinated shower.

Water Bungalows: The Water Bungalows are reached by walkway over the turquoise lagoon and are on the west side of the island. In addition to the facilities offered in the Superior Rooms, the Water Bungalows have tea & coffee making facilities, a bathroom with hairdryer, bath tub/shower and a spacious sun deck where you can enjoy stunning views over the clear tropical ocean.

There is one main restaurant serving International style cuisine as a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two bars on the island; one in the main restaurant and one at the beach bar & coffee shop next to the swimming pool. The coffee shop also serves a selection of snacks throughout the day.

Excursions & Entertainment

Thulhagiri offers a number of excursions which include Night Fishing, Island Hopping, Male Shopping, Snorkelling and Big game fishing. The resort has a small swimming pool and activities include volleyball, table tennis and badminton. The island has beautiful beaches and there is a lovely house reef for snorkelling and diving. Additional watersports include catamaran sailing, water skiing and windsurfing. The resort also offers spa services.

Diving

The diving at Thulhagiri is run by the Sub Aqua Dive Team, who have many years experience managing dive bases in the Maldives. A full range of PADI courses are offered, from complete beginner to Divemaster and Nitrox courses. The house reef is easily accessed from the shore and the dive boats set off daily to some superb dive sites. Nitrox is offered free of charge for certified divers.

Travel Information

If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights on either award winning Emirates Airlines or Sri Lankan Airlines at very competitive fares. Emirates have a flexible schedule of departures on most days of the week from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow via Dubai. Sri Lankan airlines offer direct flights from Heathrow on certain days of the week and flights via Colombo at other times. If you would like to arrange your own flights, we can quote you a rate for your island accommodation that excludes flights.

With such flexibility in air travel you can choose to stay on your selected island for any number of days you would like. For the ultimate Maldives experience we highly recommend you combine your stay on an island with a fantastic week onboard one of our liveaboards, the Sea Queen or Sea Spirit.

Sun  Depart Male at 0955hrs for flight to Dubai, arriving 1255hrs.
Sun  Depart Dubai at 1415hrs for flight to UK, arriving Heathrow at 1840hrs the same day.
