Introduction to Helengeli Island Resort
Helengeli is a narrow and beautiful island with lush tropical vegetation, untouched beaches of the finest white sand, and a sprawling turquoise lagoon. The resort has a superb house reef and access to some incredible dive sites, including amazing manta sites. Accommodation
Deluxe Rooms: Dotted around the lush and green island, and set along the beachfront, are the simple but very clean and comfortable Deluxe Rooms. The bungalows are spacious and cosy with open-air Maldivian-style bathrooms where you can shower in your own private garden. Each bungalow has comfortable outside seating facilities on private verandahs, sun lounges and unobstructed views over the beautiful white sand and turquoise lagoon. Beautiful lush sandy pathways will lead you through the island to enjoy the resort’s facilities.
Restaurants & Bars
Helengeli has just one restaurant and bar. The restaurant serves a range of culinary delights, from continental and local menus to exotic oriental dishes. Start the day with home made oven-fresh bread and tropical fruits from a varied breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner are also served as buffets, carefully prepared and lovingly presented. Occasional beach BBQ’s or private beach dinners round off a wide choice of dining events. The bar area by the pool also has a varied snack menu serving club sandwiches and grills.
Situated next to the restaurant and bar is the fresh-water swimming pool and wooden deck area, an ideal place to wind down the day with an exotic cocktail in front of a beautiful tropical sunset.
Excursions & Entertainment
In addition to the lovely fresh water swimming pool Helengeli offers table tennis, billiards, volleyball, and carom - a traditional board game. Regular excursions are available to local islands and uninhabited islands as well as snorkelling safaris and dolphin watching trips.
Spa: Located on the island is the wonderful Duniye Spa. Open from 10am to 8pm the spa offers a range of treatments and massages from around the world. These include a ‘Balinese Massage’, ‘Thai Massage’and ‘Oriental Massage', with the best aromatic oils from different Asian origins, or you can indulge in an exotic body treatment such as ‘Sandalwood Lulur’ or ‘Ginger-Lemongrass Body Wrap’. Several special packages have been created to suit all tastes and moods.
Diving
Helengeli has an excellent dive centre run by Ocean-Pro Divers. The well equipped centre offers a range of PADI courses. 2 boat dives per day are planned to over 35 dive sites all within easy reach. Helengeli has a superb house reef for those wishing to make more dives during your stay and manta rays are often seen here in good numbers.
In our opinion Helengeli is a wonderful resort for divers looking for a rustic and simple island retreat. With great facilities, stunning beaches and superb diving, Helengeli offers excellent value for money.
Travel Information
If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights on either award winning Emirates Airlines or Sri Lankan Airlines at very competitive fares. Emirates have a flexible schedule of departures on most days of the week from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow via Dubai. Sri Lankan airlines offer direct flights from Heathrow on certain days of the week and flights via Colombo at other times. If you would like to arrange your own flights, we can quote you a rate for your island accommodation that excludes flights.
With such flexibility in air travel you can choose to stay on your selected island for any number of days you would like. For the ultimate Maldives experience we highly recommend you combine your stay on an island with a fantastic week onboard one of our liveaboards, the Sea Queen or Sea Spirit.
