Introduction to Chaaya Island Dhonveli
This is a surfers paradise with access to the Maldives top seven surf points; 'Sultans', 'Honkeys', 'Prisons', 'Colas', 'Chickens', 'Ninjas' and, of course, 'Pasta Point'. 'Pasta Point' is privately owned by Chaaya Island Dhonveli and is exclusively surfed by guests staying there. This is the only resort in the Maldives with a dedicated surfing programme and offers world class surfing in a stunningly beautiful environment. Surf spots are limited to just 30 places at any one time and these must be pre-booked with the accommodation. Accommodation
Garden Bungalows: The Garden Bungalows are the number one choice for surfers staying on the island. All are air-conditioned, two-level units situated on the south side of the island, just a few metres from Pasta Point surf break. The thatched-roof bungalows are surrounded by tropical gardens and each has a private balcony, where you can enjoy cool breezes and stunning views. Upstairs on the mezzanine level, the main bedroom is stylishly furnished with a king-sized bed, white linen sheets, natural timber finishes and tropical decor in relaxing colours.
Downstairs there is a fridge, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, and additional space for your luggage. Through to the sitting room there is a writing desk, chairs, satellite-cable TV and telephone. There is also a day bed and couch that can be made up as a single bed for additional family members or surfing mates. All Garden Bungalows have a spacious, self-contained bathroom, fully tiled, and equipped with separate shower recess, handbasin, WC and bidet.
Beach Bungalows Facing the lagoon the Beach Bungalows are beautifully finished with tropical timbers and textured walls. There's a king-size bed and an open-air bathroom with shower and tub in a private tropical garden. Other luxuries include a divan/day bed, minibar, satellite-cable TV, telephone and air conditioning. The spacious room can accommodate another bed for family holidays if required.
Water Bungalows Wake up to the sound of the surf in a Water Bungalow built over the water inside the reef, with views of the waves and the Pasta Point break just a short stroll away. Water Bungalows are air-conditioned and fully equipped with spa bath, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, TV, telephone, writing table, separate bathroom and private sun deck.
Over Water Suites Built over the blue lagoon the Over Water Suites have a wide outdoor deck with private sun lounges and steps leading down to the water. The bedroom has a king sized bed and en-suite bathroom with shower and personal spa bath. A separate living room features a divan/day bed, TV, entertainment system, minibar, telephone, writing desk and internet access.
Restaurants & Bars
Koimala Garden Restaurant: Named after a Maldivian King the main Garden Restaurant of Chaaya Island Dhonveli features a wide variety of cuisines from East to West, served buffet style, with live cooking stations for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Rehendhi: Named after an illustrious Maldivian Queen, the Rehendhi offers a fine dining experience at the edge of the lagoon, specializing in a selection of fresh seafood and prime meats. For the wine connoisseur, there is a fabulous wine cellar offering an amazing collection of the best wines from around the world.
Raiyvilaa Sunset Terrace Bar: The Raiyvilaa features an A la Carte menu offering snacks and main meals. On request, exclusive candlelit dinners can be arranged on the beach under the stars. As the resort’s main bar, guests can enjoy a vast range of beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and cocktails.
Raalhu: A bar and restaurant with an A la Carte menu, Raalhu adjoins the cascading waves of the internationally famed 'Pasta Point', venue of many international surfing competitions. The bar has a pool table and darts, a mini library, and there is a large deck that extends out over the ocean. The upper floor has a panoramic view of the surf break and the lights of Male at night in the distance. Dolphins and occasionally pilot whales are seen from here, which makes this a wonderful vantage point.
Maakana: Maakana is named after the Grey Heron, a regular visitor to this location. The circular structured Maakana Restaurant has a wonderful view of the surf breaks and a high cone shaped thatched roof features live cooking stations where guests can watch the chefs preparing fresh cuisine.
Excursions & Entertainment
The resort has many activities to enjoy and these include a fully-equipped PADI 5 Star dive centre offering diver training from beginner through to Divemaster. Boats set off daily to some stunning sites around North and South Male Atoll. Other activities include a beautiful fresh-water swimming pool, a fully equipped gymnasium, a flood-lit tennis court, badminton, a cyber café, a full water sports center and the resort has child care facilities to give you that well earned break!
The Wings Spa: Chaaya Island Dhonveli resort has an excellent spa, offering an extensive range of massages, reflexology and manicures from around the world including Javanese, Aryurveda, Balinese and Maldivian treatments.
Surfing
The surfing on Chaaya Island Dhonveli is operated by Atoll Adventures and this is the only resort island in the Maldives with a programme designed specifically for surfers. Chaaya Island Dhonveli is situated in one of the best surf areas of the Maldives. Natural waves curl around the island from February to November and the island has become one of the best places in the world to surf. The island's own break 'Pasta Point' is world-class and nearby there are some stunning offshore breaks.
The surf boats have experienced guides who know the waters and prevailing conditions like no others. Boats are available from 6.15am to get the early at 'Sultans', 'Honky's' or 'Jailbreak' before breakfast. Morning and afternoon excursions to the furthest breaks of 'Chickens' and 'Colas' (approximately 45 minutes away) are made when conditions are favourable. All the boats have communication with each other and the island via walkie-talkie in order to relay information relating to surf conditions and surfer numbers.

Travel Information
If you are travelling through or from the UK we can arrange flights on either award winning Emirates Airlines or Sri Lankan Airlines at very competitive fares. Emirates have a flexible schedule of departures on most days of the week from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow via Dubai. Sri Lankan airlines offer direct flights from Heathrow on certain days of the week and flights via Colombo at other times. If you would like to arrange your own flights, we can quote you a rate for your island accommodation that excludes flights.
