Introduction to Angsana Resort & Spa - Ihuru
Quiet and idyllic, Angsana is one of the most natural and beautiful resorts in the Maldives and offers superb shore and boat diving. The house reef, which is easily accessible from the shore day or night, even has its own small wreck dive. Surrounded by a beautiful turquoise lagoon, Angsana is a tiny circular island with dense and lush vegetation at its center, and is one of the most photographed islands in the Maldives
Angsana was one of the first eco-friendly resorts in the Maldives. They have a policy aimed at minimising the effects of tourism which includes using biodegradable detergents, using solar water heating and effective rubbish disposal schemes. Angsana Resort and Spa Ihuru is managed by the renowned Banyan Tree group and is an exclusive resort offering a very high standard of service.

Restaurants & Bars
There is just one restaurant, a coffee shop and one bar on Angsana island. The Riveli Restaurant is the main restaurant, set by the water’s edge and offering glorious views out to the horizon. The restaurant serves an excellent standard of international and local cuisine. Lunch is usually buffet style while dinner is served as a set menu providing a choice of two main dishes. Every week there is a Maldivian themed Buffet evening and usually a beach BBQ. Lobsters and giant prawns are available on some days.

Velaavani Bar offers a variety of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits, and champagnes. In addition there is a small snack bar that serves ice creams, sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee. In-villa dining is also available and private beach tables can be set up and enjoyed with food brought to you by a waiter.
Excursions & Entertainment
Angsana is well placed within the atoll to offer a good range of half or full day excursions to local fishing islands, other resort islands and shopping excursions to the capital island of Male. In addition the resort offers BBQ Island Excursions to the beautiful uninhabited island of Kuda Bandos, just 20 minutes away.
Land Sports available on the resort include beach volleyball, table tennis and badminton and the island has a fully equipped gymnasium. The lagoon is perfect for windsurfing, catamaran sailing and canoeing and instructors are available for the windsurfs and catamarans.

The Angsana Spa: Using aromatherapy and a healing sense of touch, the Angsana Spa is a sanctuary for the inner self. There are 8 luxurious spa pavilions, of which two are deluxe with outdoor Jacuzzis and steam baths, offering an extensive range of holistic and non-clinical spa treatments and massages to refresh and vitalize the spirit. The Spa is open daily from 9am until 10pm.
Diving
Angsana offers excellent boat and house reef diving. The well stocked dive school has equipment and underwater cameras for hire and the dive boats set off daily in the morning and afternoon to some excellent dive sites. Some full day trips are also offered. The Angsana house reef is excellent and very easy to access for snorkelling and scuba diving and on the south side of the house reef there is a small wreck at 25m.
As an eco-friendly resort, Angsana runs regular marine biology courses (these must be pre-booked) and they have their own, ongoing scientific marine project taking place on the island that monitors and stimulates coral growth. If you are interested to know more, they would be delighted to show you the project and discuss their results.
