Stunning Filitheyo is the only resort island in the remote North Nilandhe Atoll (also known as Faafu Atoll). It is a beautiful and stylish resort that offers a very high standard of accommodation in attractive and spacious rooms. Filitheyo is a medium sized island, just 900m by 500m, with a densely vegetated interior of palm trees, rubber trees, mangroves and Scaebola trees.

The resort of Filitheyo lies between two channels on the eastern side of the atoll. The great advantage of its secluded, exclusive position lies in the unexplored reefs that offer superb diving for guests staying on this remote resort. The triangular shaped island, with its white sandy beach and turquoise lagoon, has been developed with careful consideration for the environment and is perfect for diving and snorkelling. Filitheyo Island Resort remains an excellent choice for creating those magical holiday memories, that will stay with you for years to come.

Your Accommodation Options
Superior Villa

There are 94 Superior Rooms built around the edge of the island just set back from the beach but within the treeline. All rooms are semi-detached and offer a truly excellent standard of stylish accommodation. The air-conditioned rooms are elegantly furnished with large four poster beds and attractive hardwood furniture. All rooms are equipped with a well-stocked mini-bar, telephone, safe deposit box, television and CD stereo-player. The partially open air bathrooms are almost as large as the bedrooms and have twin sinks, desalinated hot and cold water shower and separate WC. All bathrooms have hairdryers and bathrobes are provided.

Deluxe Villa

The 15 Deluxe Rooms are situated along the south west beach and all rooms are detached. As well as offering all the facilities of the Superior Rooms, the Deluxe Villas feature a larger bathroom which has a bathtub as well as a shower.

Water Villa

16 luxurious Water Villas have been built on stilts around the south of the lagoon. These offer the height of luxury including double doors that open out onto a large shaded sundeck area. From here, there are steps leading down into the lagoon and an additional platform provides plenty of room for sunbathing. The Rooms have four poster beds and the large bathrooms have a whirlpool bathtub.

Restaurants

There are two restaurants on the island. The main restaurant serves a very good choice of international and local dishes and has an enviable reputation for serving excellent food. There is a delicious selection of fresh meat and poultry dishes, including grilled meats, seafood and pasta, plus an excellent choice of fresh mixed salads and tropical fruits. Beach buffets and barbecues, including many Maldivian specialities, provide further variety to the menu. The main bar is located next to the restaurant and offers a good selection of cocktails, beers, fruit juices, wines and soft drinks. Table tennis and darts are available here. Close to the main bar is a decked area that leads down to a sunken library and air-conditioned reading room. At the south of the island is the sunset bar and a beautiful swimming pool, overlooking the clear turquoise ocean. The bar serves a wide range of soft drinks, beers, wines, spirits and cocktails and next to it is the small Sunset Restaurant, offering an a la carte menu.

Excursions & Entertainment

Filitheyo's brand new spa is situated in the interior of the island, among stunning gardens, and it is an excellent place to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy a range of treatments. A wide range of massages, reflexology treatments, facials and pedicures is offered. Filitheyo offers a good range of watersports including catamaran sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. There is a surfing and sailing school on the island, with Top Cat catamarans and Hy-Fly surf-boards and gear. Filitheyo is the only resort in North Nilandhoo Atoll and there are numerous uninhabited islands close to the resort; the inhabited islands of Biledhoo and Feeali are interesting to visit. Excursions include half day and full day island hopping tours, early morning and night fishing excursions and also sunset cruises around the islands. In addition, there is a well equipped air-conditioned gymnasium on the island fitted out with weights and jogging equipment. Volleyball is played on the beach and there is a very attractive swimming pool with decking terraces and bar area. Darts and other board games are available in the bar.

Diving

Filitheyo has a spectacular house reef which falls to more than 90 metres. Around the island are 7 clearly marked entry and exit points, where staff from the dive school will deliver your equipment making for very easy diving. The house reef can be dived by experienced, qualified divers day or night. The house reef is also home to 2 small wrecks. The KM Agro Mina II had been used for many years as fishing boat and now lies on the North side of the island. She is in an upright position at a maximum depth of 32 metres. The 34 metre Koimas I is slightly larger and lies from 21 metres down to a maximum of 34 metres and can be dived by divers of all levels. Werner Lau Diving Centre has four diving dhonis which depart daily. The various dive sites can be reached between five minutes and one hour, and full day trips are offered which take you to manta locations on the west side of the atoll. With over 40 different dive sites, there is something for all levels of experience. Nearby dive sites include Filitheyo Thila, Dolphin Corner, Minimasgali Faru, Kings Corner, Kuda Giri and M and M Reef. The dive site Filitheyo Thila is a popular spot for stingrays and large schools of fish. Around this thila there are numerous caves, the majority being over 20 metres in depth. The site attracts a variety of marine life including sharks, napoleon wrasse, batfish, oriental sweetlips, snapper and eagle rays. For the more experienced diver, there are further caves for exploration beyond the outside drop off point, starting below 30 metres. Dolphin Corner has beautiful coral formations, blue-finger sponges, hydroids and featherstars. In the current you can watch marine life cruise by including whitetip reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, eagle rays, schools of fusilier and snapper, together with moorish idols, blue triggerfish and powder blue surgeonfish. Werner Lau also offer trips with underwater scooters - there are five underwater scooters available for guests to try a new experience!
