Boat Trip Datesort ascending Itinerary
Sea Spirit SS523 29 Dec 2016 to 8 Jan 2017 New Year Special (10 day)
Guest Transfer
Well ... due to the thick fog in Dubai, it meant flights were delayed so some guests didn't make the early morning flight and we had a few missing bags! But the late arrivals were meet and transferred to Sea Spirit and settled in. No check dive as it was far too late after getting back to Sea Spirit but all the dive equipment was set up ready for the morning.
Day 1
Dive 1
Love this site - it has so much fish life on the corner and around the large coral blocks, couple of whitetips, stingrays, large eagle ray, huge shoal of bluestripe snappers and humphead snappers, 5 large bumphead parrot fish, green turtles and half moon anglefish.
Dive 2
While I went back to the airport to meet the missing guests that got stuck in Dubai, Dave took the other guests for a fab dive. They had many stingrays and giant guitar shark, so many different types of morays (some with 7 in one hole!), a huge shoal of remora, so many bannerfish, fosters barracuda and a large shoal of bigeyes .
Dive 3
Due to rough weather, we cancelled the dive for safety reason and just used the time to cross to South Male Atoll and find a calmer anchor spot.
Day 2
Dive 1
Lovely blue water - a strong current, but great fun! Hundreds of skipjack tuna and so close. We also saw whitetip sharks, many napoleon (one large very blue old guy!) hundreds of bannerfish, ribbon eels, honeycomb morays and 2 octopus. Just a fab dive!
Dive 2
Another fab dive with so many grey sharks throughout the dive. Also 6 eagle rays hanging at jack corner, a huge shoal of bigeye jacks, black jacks, hundreds and hundreds of surgeon fish and the soft coral was puffed out to the its full glory.
Dive 3
Quite a hard channel crossing with strange currents once we reached the middle of the channel, but we did have both grey reef sharks and whitetips, black jacks and tuna ... then a 4 knot drift into the channel.
Night Dive
Last dive of 2016 … and WOW what rush!!! We had that many nurse sharks all around us and the water column was full of them - this went on for the whole 60 min dive. A fab finish to the year!!
Day 3
Dive 1
Fab start to the New Year with plenty of shark action all along the front of the channel plus the bonus of finding an ornate ghost pipefish.
Dive 2
Back for more shark action and this time the current wasn't too bad, so we were able to cross the channel. There were so many grey sharks, both adults and juveniles, along with many whitetips and shoaling bigeye jacks.
Dive 3
Love this site - so much to see and very interesting overhangs full of life. We had blacktip sharks, whitetips, stunning comet fish, very fast moving bird-wing flatworm and a huge shoal of rainbow runners.
Evening Activity
A sunset walk around the lovely little sand island.
Day 4
Dive 1
4 MANTAS CLEANING ... right over some of the guests heads!!! And a large marble ray, whip coral covered in colonial anemones, octopus, bluefin trevally charging around.
Dive 2
Grey sharks swimming among the bigeye jacks, tuna, fosters barracuda, amber jacks milling around, whitetip sharks, a strange snapper (I've not seen before!?), hawksbill turtle and eagle ray.
Dive 3
Another fab dive with hundreds of bluefin trevally and rainbow runners, huge fat grey sharks, green turtles, 3 MANTAS, a pair of porcelain crabs, little spearing mantis, stunning orange soft coral along the ledges and pinnacles, very nosey blackjacks that followed us for most of the dive and large shoals of humphead snappers.
Day 5
Dive 1
We had 2 LARGE FEMALE MANTAS ... a shame they seemed very nervous so they kept swimming off then returning for a quick clean.
Dive 2
Very healthy hard coral along the front of the channel and coral blocks full of reef fish. We had a couple of whitetip sharks and great barracuda - but the best was having 6 MOBULA which kept making passes.
Dive 3
What a pain - we had an out-current so we couldn't do the channel crossing! Ended up doing a gentle drift along the outside reef.
Day 6
Dive 1
Plenty of fish life hanging out on the corner which was nice.
Dive 2
We saw so many whitetip sharks, whiptail ray and large shoals of bluestripe snapper - but very cold water along the front of the ridge!
Dive 3
Two large silvertip sharks, eagle ray, whitetip sharks, so many napoleons, white mouth moray, peacock mantis shrimp, a pair of octopus, large shoals of Indian bannerfish and yellow spot snappers, turtles, tuna and a 'free-way' of fusiliers.
Day 7
Dive 1
MANTA-TASTIC!!! We had a lovely display for the whole dive along with all the shoals of bluestripe snappers and yellow goatfish. The shallow part of the cleaning station was covered in juvenile fusiliers and basslets.
Dive 2
It was worth the wait ... we had 6 MANTAS at the end of the dive - so it was rude to just leave!
Dive 3
A super dive with so much life. Five hawksbill turtles, octopus, amber jacks, bigeye jacks, barracuda, large shoals of bannerfish, a little eagle ray and so many sharks - both grey reef and whitetips.
Night Dive
It was fab having the dive site to ourselves and with so much going on, it was a very exciting dive! The poor morays seem to be doing all the work hunting and scarring the little fish out, with the giant trevally and whitetips waiting! At one point we had 2 stingrays, morays, whitetips and giant trevally all trying to get the same fish!!! We saw two cuttlefish, many cushion stars out and about plus 7 Pleurobranchus grandis, two sleeping hawksbills and, right at the end, we had a one of the stingrays swim up to the surface.
Day 8
Dive 1
As soon as I reached the top of the thila I found a robust ghost pipefish. A very cute eagle ray hung out with us for the whole dive - in fact it seemed everything decided to hang out on top of the thila with all the bigeyes plus fosters barracuda. W even had the grey sharks swimming right through the bigeyes, 5 little juvenile grey sharks, many whitetips and larger grey sharks kept charging at the fish.
Dive 2
Loved this dive - it was like been on an adventure, drifting all along the front with large shoals of batfish, so many grey sharks, large feathertail ray, whiptail ray, friendly eagle ray, huge shoal of chevron barracuda and stunning huge purple sponge.
Dive 3
Well, what more can I say but 'fish soup' - we had just about everything!!!
Evening Activity
Sunset drinks on the the little island to watch the sunset.
Day 9
Dive 1
What a difference a day can make - we had good visibility on the third dive yesterday then to have very green water and no current this morning, but still plenty to see in the murk.
Dive 2
Only our second dive on this site so we are still trying to work it out as it's such a big area. But a very enjoyable dive with plenty of big stuff and small stuff to see. I think a couple more dives and we will have it worked out. It's good to explore and discover new sites!
Ocean Crossing
Very clam crossing back to Hulemale. Guests were happy to stay on board Sea Spirit and enjoy the sun rather than go into Male.
Evening Activity
Nice evening chatting after watching the trip DVD.
Day 10
Guest Transfer
Its that time to transfer all the guests to the airport ready for their onward flights home.

Day 1
Dive 1
EIGHT MANTAS CLEANING together and hovering right over our heads! This continued for the whole 75 min dive and the best part was we had the dive site all to ourselves.

OMG what an amazing dive!!! We had silvertip sharks cleaning plus 6 MANTAS swimming along the top of the reef, then to follow us down and using our bubbles to clean. 4 large female mantas decided it was fun to use us as part of their cleaning station so we had to almost lie flat to allow room for them to hover over our bubbles. They came that close we had real good eye contact and they even followed us off the reef when we had to leave - I really did not want to come up!
Dive 2
Very green water - no whaleshark, but we did have a large stingray and a couple of whitetips, turtles, a large shoal of bluestrip snappers and yellow goatfish, a pair of porcelain crabs, octopus, a pair of little chromodoris fidelis, blocks covered in glassfish and fusiliers all the way through the dive.

A few guests came in on the Emirates flight and some came from resorts and guest house on Hulemale. Once all on board and paper work filled out, it was time to cross from North Male to South Male.
Dive 1
What a perfect check out dive with very little current and tonnes of reef fish all over the thila. It was nice finding the little yellow warty frog fish and my first ornate ghost pipe fish for quite some time. Also an octopus and so many scorpion fish and lion fish.
Day 1
Dive 1
Quite a drift dive!!! To start with we 'flew' along the overhangs but once on the outside you could slow down and take a look around. We saw a couple of eagle rays and many whitetip reef sharks, some huge dogtooth tuna, hundreds of bannerfish, honeycomb moray, a friendly hawksbill turtle and a small nurse shark under a coral block.
Dive 2
Fab dive with many grey reef sharks along the front and whitetips plus 11 eagle rays all in formation - stunning to watch! A couple of green turtles. A right giggle watching a pair of hawksbill turtles fighting over a piece of sponge - they kept biting each others fins! A large shoal of sweetlips and redtail butterflyfish.
Dive 3
A strong current once we reached the middle of the channel, so we hooked in and watched the many grey reef sharks until our bottom time was low.
Day 2
Dive 1
What a difference from yesterdays dive - a small in-current and fab viz plus so many grey reef sharks and whitetips all along the front of the channel. Plus one very pregnant eagle ray!
Dive 2
Swift drift dive along a very interesting reef. The best part was right on the corner where, over the atoll plate, there were 23 juvenile grey reef sharks being closely followed by 2 large female grey reef sharks, a large shoal of skipjack tuna, very pregnant whitetip reef shark, huge bonefish on the reef top, a turtle and large shoals of snappers.
Dive 3
Very relaxing dive with both the reef and the wreck fully covered in juvenile fusiliers and silversides. We saw 5 lionfish hanging out together, a large napoleon at the stern of the wreck, a very pink flatworm, a couple of reef pipefish and a little moray eel.
Day 3
Dive 1
We had both an out-current and in-current! A couple of whitetips, a very small juvenile whitetip resting under a coral block, octopus, many honeycomb morays, whitemouth moray, little halimeda ghostpipefish, large shoals of yellow spot snappers and bluestripe snappers, a large male hawksbill turtle and a 'free-way' of fusiliers.
Dive 2
Three different types of stingray swimming around, surgeon fish and butterfly fish in big shoals, large shoal of remora, hundreds of bannerfish and so many different types of morays - some with six in one hole!
Dive 3
A really strong current made this a very tough dive, with currents hitting you everywhere you moved - after 35 mins we gave up … boo hoo!
Night Dive
A guitar shark swam around us a couple of times and the last time it came in it swam right up to me and was so close I could have kissed it! We saw four different stingrays, leopard snake eels swimming around and it was fab finding a leopard moray which are really rare to spot. The remora where still swimming around and there were so many banded shrimps all crawling around.
Day 4
Dive 1
A very interesting reef with a couple of eagle rays, huge shoals of red snappers and midnight snappers, stingray, leaf fish, whitetips, mobula, hawksbill turtle and loads of stripe-legged lobsters.
Dive 2
Little eagle ray, 8 juvenile grey reef sharks along with a couple of larger ones. We saw whitetips swimming around and a juvenile one resting under the table corals. Scorpion fish, octopus, batfish being cleaned and large shoals of bigeyes and bluestripe snappers.
Dive 3
Spent most of the dive 'hanging out' by the deeper pinnacle watching the grey sharks swimming around. We also saw an eagle ray, 5 hawksbill turtles and a stonefish.
Night Dive
Night dive under Sea Spirit using our lights - we were able to watch a manta ray feeding.
Day 5

MANTA MAGIC for the whole hour ... with 11 mantas cleaning at one time. Brilliant!
Dive 2
Another fantastic MANTA dive with 8 together!! We also had loads of grey reef sharks and whtietips swimming around the cleaning station then, right at the end, we had a mobula come and join in!
Dive 3
Many whitetips and grey reef sharks plus a blacktip shark right at the end of the dive. We had eagle rays, stingrays, a pair of leaf fish, a large shoal of bigeye jacks, some huge dogtooth tuna and the whole ridge was just covered in redtooth triggerfish and basslets.

Dive 1
Great check-dive with a guitar shark right at the start of the dive swimming around, so many sting rays and every hole had a moray in it - some holes you had 4 different types! 100s of banner fish, box fish, a group of remora swimming around and a napoleon.
Day 1
Dive 1
Super MANTA dive!!! We had 13 all together and this went on for the whole 75 min dive - not a bad way to start the day!

Everyone was more than happy to go back for more manta fun - again, MANTAS FROM START TO FINISH with 6 cleaning together.
Dive 3
Nurse sharks swimming round plus one lemon shark, sting rays, huge dogtooth tuna, hawksbill turtle and loads of pyramid butterflyfish.
Day 2
Dive 1
8 eagle rays, many whitetip sharks, hawksbill turtles and juvenile grey reef sharks. But the best was having a male and female doing a courtship dance out in the blue - it was amazing to watch and then the female decided to swim within and inch of me and so fast it actually made me jump!!!
Dive 2
A swift drift dive. We 'flew' along the reef and we even managed to reach the end, cross the channel and make our way along the outside reef on the other side of the channel. Fab fun.
Ocean Crossing
Very smooth ocean crossing - we even had a huge pod of common dolphins come play along side Sea Spirit.
Dive 3
Dusk dive and what a fab dive, with so many anemones over the thila. The whole site was covered in glassfish and silversides, bluefin trevally going crazy, lobsters and a large saddleback grouper being cleaned ... and we surfaced to a stunning pink sky!
Day 3
Dive 1
100s and 100s of bigeye jacks, large female grey being chased by a smaller male (missing us by inches!), mating octopus, large shoals of rainbow runners, a 'freeway' of fusiliers, huge shoals of bluestripe and humphead snappers, and yellow goatfish. But the best was having 3 MANTAS CLEANING and, at times, making very close passes over our heads. Fabulous!
Dive 2
It had to be done - we decided to go enjoy the MANTAS one more time ... and all the lovely fishes.
Dive 3
Fab dive with eagle rays and grey sharks at the start, a large shoal of bigeye jacks, so many giant sweetlips, a free swimming honeycomb moray, 3 threadfin jacks, leaf fish, robust pipefish, 100s of bluestrip snappers and redtail butterflyfish, a juvenile green turtle and a large shoal of midnight snappers.
Night Dive
A very interesting wreck - full of life! bumphead parrot fish, arge saddle back grouper, black coral full of clear shrimps, sea pens (one with a pair of little crabs living on it), flathead fish, an unknown little octopus, white spearing mantis, flounder, unknown reef pipefish, two different types of nudis and all the time black jacks kept charging around.

Dive 3
Guitar shark, sting ray being cleaned, a little eagle ray and a pair of flying gurnard. All the morays seemed to be out of their holes and up in the water column like posts - very strange!!! Two very friendly hawksbills, octopus and batfish while doing our stops.
Day 5
Dive 1
What an AMZING dive - the whole thila was covered in glassfish and big waves of silversides. At times you couldn't even see your buddy!

Dive 3
Guitar shark, a couple of small greys, stingray, turtle, large shoal of amber jacks, barracuda, 100s and 100s of bluestripe snappers and the bluefin trevally kept charging the waves of silversides. The large coral blocks on the top of the thila were full of yellowback fusiliers.
Evening Activity
Rain did not stop us from going for a lovely walk around the local island of Maroshi to see the lovely Kani tree and walk along the beach.
Day 6
Dive 1
Large nurse shark, a couple of large grey sharks, two male stingrays following a large female stingray around, a huge shoal of batfish, barracuda, amber jacks, so many lobsters and a large starfish on the reef top.
Dive 2
The pinnacles were covered in silversides which had bluefin trevally and rainbow runners along with skipjack tuna charging them! We had greys sharks and stingray but, for me, the best part of the dive was watching the silversides making amazing patterns in my torchlight.
Dive 3
What a beautiful site!!! Some of the most AMAZING SOFT CORAL I've seen .. and so many fish. Can't wait to dive it again!
Evening Activity
A couple of guests went for a walk around the local island - they said it was so nice to be able to watch normal island life rather than visiting an island where they rely on tourist sales.
Day 7
Dive 1
Amazing visibility, but a shame we didn't get anything other than a large wahoo come and say 'hello'. But a nice feeling 'hanging' in the deep blue water.
Dive 2
So many reef fish and 100s and 100s of bluestripe and humphead snappers, yellow goatfish, a couple of stingrays, whitetips and large napoleon. But the best was having a very special sighting of a large ORNATE EAGLE RAY.
Dive 3
Love this site!!! There is always so much to see and interesting pinnacles full of coral and reef fish and amazing visibility.
Day 8
Dive 1
4 MANTAS with the large female staying for the whole dive! It was lovely having this dive site to ourselves.
Dive 2
Back for more MANTA MAGIC and what a show they put on!!! In the end we had 8 MANTAS all in only 7m!!! They really didn't mind us being there and seemed to enjoy our company. It was hard work getting everyone to leave because it was so beautiful.
Daytime Excursion
The Manta Trust team came aboard to give a very interesting talk to the guests.
Dive 3
Visibility was really low but we still had loads of action with wave after wave of fusiliers being hunted by the giant trevally. A very friendly hawksbill, a pretty 'swim through', beautiful fan corals and black coral bushes with longnose hawkfish and clear and banded shrimps .
Night Dive
WOW ... we got completely surrounded by silversides and at times you could not even see the reef as there were so many!!! And this went on for the whole dive! We also saw stingrays and morays eating the silversides (which got stunned in our lights), a huge hermit crab, leopard snake eel and spearing mantis shrimps.
Ocean Crossing
Night crossing between atolls.
Day 9
Dive 1
A super dive with so many grey reef sharks, little eagleray, 3 hawksbill turtles, bluefin tuna charging the fusiliers and the whole reef top was covered in juvenile bluestripe snappers.
Dive 2
3 FEMALE MANTAS for most of the dive, with the smaller female doing 'loop-the-loops' and a lovely coral garden to drift over at the end of the dive.
Dive 3
Hoping to see a whaleshark - but no luck today, but we did have 2 mobula, eagle rays, whitetips and grey reef sharks, large green turtle, hawksbill, 100s of pyramid butterflyfish, a 'free-way' of fusiliers, geometric chromodoris, octopus and peacock mantis shrimp.

I have to say this must be THE BEST soft coral coverage on a site in Ari Atoll! Pinnacles and overhangs full of pink and peach soft coral plus layer after layer of fan corals. A huge guitar shark swam right under us, two pairs of whipcoral shrimps, whitetip sharks and turtles. The reef top is still lovely with coral blocks covered in bluestripe snappers and spiky soft coral.
Dive 3
WOW ... a pod of common DOLPHINS swam right up to us on the dive!! And we saw 7 ribbon eels, a pair of leaffish, many scorpion fish and spearing mantis shrimps, a pair of full moon gobys (which are very rare here in the Maldives), honeycomb morays, lionfish and shoaling pyramid butterflyfish on the reef top.
Day 11
Dive 1
Last dive of the trip and we swam right into a lovely young female leopard shark! We had both whitetips and grey reef sharks, large eagle ray, a very friendly turtle, 3 octopus, leaffish, spearing mantis shrimps, 100s of banner fish, honeycomb moray and layer after layer of fan corals in the overhangs. The whole corner is covered in a blanket of orange basslets all darting up in to the water column like a firework display! A super dive to finish the trip on.
Snorkelling
Some of the guests went for a pleasant snorkel along a house reef to cool off before heading back into Hulemale.

Day 4
Dive 1
So many green turtles, bumphead parrotfish, eagle rays, grey reef sharks, mobula and a huge shoal of humphead snappers on the reef top.
Dive 2
Grey sharks swimming along the edge of the ridge and very close to the guests for most of the dive. A large shoal of fosters barracuda, 100s of bigeye jacks, hawksbill, octopus, juvenile eagle ray and batfish.
Dive 2
Silvertip sharks resting under one of the overhangs, grey sharks swimming around, whitetips, a huge shoal of indian and bluestripe snappers, large shoals of soliderfish, amber jacks and rainbow runners charging around.

No luck with finding a whaleshark but we still had a lovely dive. A huge stingray being cleaned, 2 hawksbill turtles, whitetips, grey reef sharks, large dogtooth tuna, 100s and 100s of fusiliers, octopus, huge shoal of yellow goatfish and bluestripe snappers - plus fantastic visibility!
Dive 2

We had guests arriving on both the morning Emirates flights and everyone came through quickly. Once on Sea Spirit, guests filled in their paperwork and set their dive gear up ready for the check dive later in the afternoon.
Dive 1
The winds had picked up to quiet strong and we had plenty of rain making the sea too rough to move around. We ended up diving 'the corner' which was a comfortable drift dive with plenty of reef fish and a couple of w-tips, honey-comb morays and turtles.
Day 1
Dive 1
What a dive!!! We had MANTA MADNESS for over 70 mins!!!
Dive 2
Another Manta-tastic dive we must have had 30+ MANTAS all going crazy - males chasing females around for large mating chains while the female took them on a right merry-go-round. Plus we had mating octopus, w-tips and hawksbill turtles all around the cleaning station.
Dive 3
Pilot Whales right along the side of Sea Spirit. We had a group of four females with a very small baby in between them - the male was huge but stayed right alongside the females and baby. Wave after wave of fusiliers for the whole dive plus a pair of robust pipe fish, juv green turtle, crazy batfish, w-tips, honey-comb morays, huge shoals of blue-stripe snappers, 3 spot snappers, large groups of moorish idols, w-tips, pair of porcelain crabs, large shoal of sweet-lips and shoals of rainbow runners.

We sat a watched a lovely display of up to 18 MANTAS CLEANING at one time. No chasing today, just the perfect manta ballet - all taking it in turns for the main spot on the cleaning station. Throughout the dive we had a pair of mating Octopus right on top of one of the coral blocks that form the cleaning station.
Dive 3
Wasn't to sure what to expect on this dive but we had a fab time with many sting-rays, nurse sharks going crazy and 3 LEMON SHARKS. Plus hundreds and hundreds of fusiliers and many reef fish.

Evening Activity
Another lovely sunset :)
Day 4
Dive 1
Early morning dive - we hung out in the blue for a while hoping for hammer-heads but no luck. So back to the reef were we had grey reef sharks, w-tips, a couple of eagle rays, huge dogtooth tuna, wave after wave of fusiliers and so many smaller reef fish. But for me, the best was right at the end having 3 black-tips reef sharks swim round us while hunting in the shallows.
Dive 2
The first half of the dive was an in-current then, half way into the dive, the current changed to an out-current taking us back to where we started our dive! But this was fine - we finished over the large coral blocks full of snappers and sweet-lips, so many w-tips all hanging out together, a marble ray, a feather-tail ray and an octopus.
Dive 3
This site is a classic that still delivers!! We had 7 juv grey sharks along with 3 large ones, many w-tips, little eagle ray, a pair of octopus, hawksbill turtle, batfish and giant trevally hunting.
Night Dive
Fab night dive with 2 sting rays following us for the whole dive. Interesting watching the giant trevally and w-tips following the morays around who seemed to be doing all the hard work finding the fish, scaring them out of hiding, then to have the other eat them. Extra Night Dive What a day to finish with mantas come feed at the back of the boat , so yes we sat at 8m and had a very cheeky male manta stay with us for over 60min and sometimes a large female would do a couple of loops.
Day 5
Dive 1
'Fish soup' sums it up really - along with three hawksbill turtles and two grey reef sharks. Super dive!!!
Dive 2
Strong in-current bringing with it many grey reef sharks - I counted 27 before I lost count!!! We also had three eagle rays and many w-tips, large shoal of fosters barracuda and big eye jacks and huge green turtles.

Dive 2
David took the three guest going to a resort for a dive and the boys took the other guests who were flying home the next day for a snorkel. Currents were still running strong so diving the corner was the best plan - which worked great as we had MANTA up close and personal!! Also w-tips, coral blocks full of reef fish, green turtles, honey-comb morays and hawksbills.
Ocean Crossing
Pleasant crossing back to Male.
Daytime Excursion
Guests decided they didn't want to go to Male - so everyone just chilled on the boat and enjoy the last of the sunshine.

Day 8
Sea Spirit SS514 9 Oct 2016 to 21 Oct 2016 Northern Atolls to Male (12 day)
Guest Transfer
Guests arrived to Dharavandhoo Airport from a domestic flight from Male. Everyone was eager to go diving so once all the paperwork was filled in, everyone set up their dive equipment ready for the dive.
Dive 1
Fab start to the trip!!! Starting with a handful of MANTAS, then a drift further up the reef to find so many MANTAS all circling a large coral block. It really felt like we had gate-crashed a manta party!!!
Day 1
Dive 1
Silver-sides covered the north pinnacles, blue-fin charging around, 3 spearing mantis and a peacock mantis running around and octopus. But the best was having 3 MANTAS come in for a clean towards the end of the dive.
Dive 2
One word best describes this dive MANTASTIC!!! I lost count of how many MANTAS we had but it was full on for the whole dive everywhere you looked there were mantas even while doing our safety stops.
Dive 3
What a fab days diving with MANTAS on all three dives. We even had 3 bottle-nose DOLPHINS swim by while we were watching the mantas. Plus, we started the day with a rainbow and finished the day with another rainbow!
Day 2
Dive 1
The dive started slowly but built up throughout the dive with 6 MANTAS coming in to clean and swimming past us with some very close 'fly-bys'. Then, to end the dive, a mass of fusiliers - I've never seen so many on one dive before and it was amazing to watch!
Dive 2
Gentle drift along a very steep wall with rare bright pink hard coral. Another MANTA, eagle ray, sting ray, both w-tip and grey reef shark, pair of small nurse sharks on the reef top, both clouded moray and white-mouth moray, octopus and anemone fish along with a fresh patch of eggs.
Dive 3
Dropped down to a LARGE FEMALE MANTA being closely followed by another MANTA passing right underneath us. Wave after wave of fusiliers and surgeon fish, large shoals of bigeyes and yellow goat fish, another 4 MANTA 'fly-bys' and then to have one swim around us and stop to clean right in front of us!
Day 3
Dive 1
Amazing Visibility. This site is stunning with so much fish life and interesting pinnacles all covered in very healthy soft and hard coral , little eagle ray
Dive 2

Day 4
Dive 1
We thought we'd do something different for a change as since the visibility was good, so we decided to do a blue water dive with us all hanging out in the deep water drifting along just to see what would come to say 'hello'. We had a couple of silver-tip sharks, a few very active grey sharks come to 'buzz' us, a huge shoal of rainbow runners and a huge dog-tooth tuna.
Dive 2
Always a fab dive site with the whole of the thila top covered in glassfish and silver-sides, huge shoals of indian snappers and blue stripe snappers, A 3m nurse shark plus a smaller one, little silver-tip shark following 10 grey reef sharks around, eagle rays and a sting ray.
Dive 3

We saw 3 flying gurnards - I can't remember the last time is saw a flying gurnard, so to have three was quiet special. We saw mating octopus and throughout the dive we had wave after wave of fusiliers.
Dive 2
This site is different each time you dive it and the atmosphere changes throughout the day - everything is still there from the earlier dives, but behaving differently. The only difference this time was that we had 3 leopard sharks.

Day 8

Guest Transfer
We had 2 arrival times today. I got the first arrivals to set up their dive equipment while we were waiting for the later ones. Once everyone had set up their dive gear we met up with Sea Spirit so they could settle in while we travelled to the first dive site.
Dive 1
FAB START TO THE TRIP WITH 16+ STING RAYS ALL SWIMMING AROUND US. Every rock you looked at you’d find loads of morays and in one rock there were 5 different types of morays - Honeycomb , golden fleck , peppered moray , white eye moray and the undulated moray. Many strange blue box fish, napoleons (some being quiet big) , huge shoal of banner fish and surgeon fish. Transit to a good anchor spot as we are still having some strong winds.
Day 1
Dive 1
A lovely dive with w-tip reef sharks through-out the dive , sting ray , couple of hawksbills , porcelain crabs , large shoals of blue-stripe snappers and hump-head snappers , constant free-way of fusiliers.
Dive 2
Low viz, being an out-current, but WOW so much life!!! A couple of grey reef sharks and w-tips , eagle rays , feather-tail ray , large dog-tooth tuna , 100s of big eye jacks , mid-night snappers , golden fleck moray being cleaned by a pair of cleaner shrimps , 100s of pyramid butter-fly fish , huge shoal of bat fish , zillions of fusiliers been charged at by the giant travelly and blue-fin travelly.
Dive 3
Late afternoon dive due to the long transit from Male but in some ways it made the dive more interesting with the sun low in sky , both juv and adult grey reefs along with many w-tips , bat fish following us round , 3 hawksbill turtles , 2 octopus , mini dice size yellow box fish , mantis shrimp , large shoal of banner fish , amba jacks , big eye jacks , black coral bushes full of small glass fish.
Night Dive
A LATE ARRIVAL FROM A VERY FRIENDLY MANTA ... so we woke the guests up and had a fab 70 mins sitting under the boat watching her doing loop the loops and very close 'flybys' right over our heads.
Day 2
Dive 1
WOW WHAT A DIVE ... the whole site was covered in a layer of blue stripe snappers and giant travelly and blue fin kept charging the fusiliers sending walls of fish right at us , was fun hanging on the top watching the grey sharks come closer and closer , frog fish , hawksbill turtle , bat fish ,large shoal of banner fish.
Dive 2
It was lovely being able just to enjoy a very healthy reef with no signs of bleaching and plenty of fish life and purple sponges everywhere.
Dive 3
YAY ... 4 DIFFERENT MANTAS!! The first being a small male coming in for a quick clean followed by a large female with a male close on her tail swam right over us but the best was a lovely female coming in real close to the reef and right past the divers giving everyone a very close experience , she hung a round for a while before swimming on.
Day 3
Dive 1
The dive site we wanted to dive had a big current running so we decided to just go for a swift drift dive along the arches , w-tips , grey reef , large napoleons , many surgeon fish , lots of pairs of dart goby , Susana flatworm , spearing mantis , sting ray been cleaned.
Dive 2
Brief snorkel with a WHALKE SHARK ... but couldn't keep up with it for long as it was swimming a little to fast!! But we did jump in with it twice followed by a pleasant drift along some great hard coral and again not much signs of bleaching and plenty of small reef fish , eagle ray ,w-tips , huge shoal of rabbit fish and mid-night snappers , peacock mantis and spearing mantis.
Dive 3
Strange grey and purple sponge coverage over a lot of the reef making it look like a moon landscape.

We even had eagle rays hang out in the middle of them , grey sharks and w-tips , large shoals of sweet-lips , was nice having a large shoal of pompano’s swimming around. Peacock mantis. Little flatworm , huge shoal of pyramid butter-fly fish.
Ocean Crossing
Smooth atoll crossing with plenty of sunshine.
Dive 2
Strong in-current so some guests followed Dave across the channel to watch the greys and w-tips, and they even had some eagle rays and a large shoal of big eye jacks. The rest of the group followed me to enjoy the thila and pinnacle - the current was too strong to allow us to stop and enjoy all the lovely soft coral, but it was nice finishing the dive drifting over a lovely hard coral garden.
Dive 3
The visibility and light had dropped so we hung out on the corner for most of the dive enjoying the large shoals of red-snappers and mid-night snappers , couple of w-tip sharks , sting ray being cleaned , 3 pairs of purple dart goby , turtle , whip coral shrimp . Napoleon , dog-tooth tuna , blue fish travelly swimming around.

YOU COULDN'T EVEN SEE YOUR BUDDY THROUGH THE SHARKS! Then to come back and find three more nurse sharks swimming around the back of Sea Spirit.
